Knorr thought about what the mission parameters would actually be, and he thought it best to level with them. "Officially? Our mission is to look after the settlers and get them ready in case the truce with the ZF doesn't hold. We'll see what kind of defensive situation they have and do what we can to improve their odds. Do that well enough, and the Zero's might think twice about getting aggressive. I'll be looking to you Sgt. for any tactical advice, and your men," looking into the eyes of those gathered, "to help bolster and train the locals where they need it."
"Unoffically, I think I think our best bet may be to make contact with the ZF and try to hammer out a long term deal to keep the peace. The NMC doesn't need to spend any more lives here, and its up to all of us to try and keep that from happening if we can. We'll know more about the situation when we get dirtside in a few days. Until then, Sgt. I leave them to you tender mercies. Dismissed."
He made his way to his tiny cabin, afforded to him by his heritage, and made himself as comfortable as possible for the trip ahead. He went over the details he knew so far and tried to look at the big picture. Peace and stability would be the only long term solution of course, but the question was if the machines of Zero Foundation had any interest in peace at all. He found it hard to sleep throughout the journey.
